Student Projects

In our climate course, students turn knowledge into action. Through collaborative group projects, they investigate real-world environmental challenges, design innovative solutions, and partner with local communities to create meaningful change. From data-driven research to on-the-ground initiatives, these projects showcase the creativity, commitment, and leadership of the next generation of climate problem-solvers.

Hope in Bloom: Environmental Stories from UC Berkeley

During Earth Week, this project invited students and staff to pause and share a favorite memory of nature, moments of wonder, peace, or connection. The result: a heartfelt 3-minute film capturing 25 stories that remind us why caring for our planet begins with love and gratitude for it.

Circular Chic: Clothing Swap

In a one-day pop-up clothing swap on campus, students came together to refresh their wardrobes sustainably sharing style, stories, and smiles. Promoted through social media and personal networks, the event sparked excitement and connection while giving pre-loved clothes a new life.

Meatless Monday

For two months, students and their loved ones skipped meat one day a week, and the planet felt it. Their collective effort saved 160 lbs of CO₂, 10,000 gallons of water, and 600 square feet of land, proving that every meal can make a difference.

Food Waste and Recovery Public Health Climate Project

Through service and creative outreach, this group partnered with food recovery programs and produced educational infographics to promote sustainability and food equity. Their project emphasized the intersection of climate resilience, community health, and mindful consumption on the UCLA campus.

Climate Change & Anxiety Curriculum for High School Students

A student-developed educational module introducing high school students to the intertwined topics of climate change and climate anxiety. The curriculum included guided meditation and climate action components to promote emotional regulation and proactive engagement. It was piloted through both virtual and in-person sessions with local schools.

Environment Clean-Up Project

Students partnered with the Surfrider Foundation for beach cleanups and environmental education, learning how local action supports larger climate goals. The project empowered participants to turn awareness into advocacy for ocean protection and sustainability.
